Almost one in four people in Rome (23.6%) live in a state of "economic hardship"

, 10.3% are in "severe material deprivation", 14.1% are at risk of poverty while 6% " arrives with difficulty at the end of the month ".

This is what emerges from

the Caritas Rome report

on poverty in the capital.

A photograph that sees not only a worse situation in some cases than the Italian average but also the widening of the gap between the 2.4% of citizens who have an income exceeding 100 thousand euros and 18% of total income and the rest of the population .

Four out of 10 Romans have an income of less than 15 thousand euros.

The most 'rich' are over-60.

Almost 45% of the Roman population lives alone

, a figure that is increasing compared to 44.6% in the previous year.

Families living in Rome are made up of an average of 2.15 people.

Among the data that also emerge are those relating to early school leaving: the trend in Rome has worsened again (with a percentage of 9.6%), after a period of improvement after 2016.

"This data highlights the strong correlation between the increase in the incidence and the year of the pandemic", underlines Caritas Roma.

However, comparing the Italian and regional values with those of Rome, the capital presents a slightly less serious situation.

On the other hand, by evaluating the incidence by sex of the sample under examination, the percentages of males appear much more significant (14.6%) compared to those of females (4.7%).
